 Lloyd has studied drumming and playing the Tabla an Indian drum from the great Tabla Maestro of India, Ustad Alla Rakha. Starting in San Francisco in 1982, later in Chicago for more training and in 1987 spent a summer training in India. Other drums he plays are called Mrudungam and a Takhawaj. Further training has been with the Indian master's son, Zakir Hussain.
